01Overview

Produce.so ("we", "our", "us") is a video production platform that turns creators' own voiceovers into finished long-form videos and can publish them to their YouTube channels. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information and any data accessed through third-party services such as Google and YouTube.

This policy applies to all users of the Produce.so platform, including our web application accessible at https://produce.so. By using our services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

02Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account Information

When you create an account on Produce.so, we collect your name, email address, and any other details you provide during registration. This information is used to manage your account and communicate with you about our services.

Google Sign-In

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

YouTube Channel Connections

When you connect a YouTube channel, you sign in with Google using OAuth 2.0. Depending on how your channel was connected, Google access is held either by the YouTube publishing service provider we use or by Produce (encrypted). We store:

  • Your channel ID, name, handle and picture, to show which channels are connected.
  • For channels connected to Produce directly, whether the channel may upload videos longer than 15 minutes, so we can tell you before a long upload fails.
  • A YouTube video ID and link after each upload, so you can open the published video.

Produce reads only your channel's name, picture, upload permissions and its recent upload titles, to avoid uploading a video twice. We do NOT access, retrieve, or store any of the following YouTube data:

  • View counts, likes, comments, or any engagement metrics
  • YouTube analytics or audience data
  • The content of your existing YouTube videos (beyond the recent upload titles above)
  • YouTube Shorts data or any other content beyond what is explicitly listed above

Your Content

We store the files you upload (voiceovers, music, images and videos for your niches, fonts, characters) and the scripts and settings you create, so we can render your videos. Finished videos are stored temporarily and deleted automatically (see Data Retention). Files are kept in encrypted cloud storage (Tigris, an S3-compatible service) and our servers are hosted on Railway in the United States.

Usage and Technical Data

Our servers log technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the requests you make, to keep the platform secure, fix bugs and measure performance. We do not use third-party analytics.

03How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To power the core functionality of Produce.so, including rendering your videos, writing scripts you request, and publishing videos to your YouTube channels on your behalf.
  • Authentication & Security: To verify your identity, manage OAuth sessions, and protect your account from unauthorized access.
  • Platform Improvement: To analyze usage patterns, debug issues, and continuously improve our platform experience.
  • Communication: To send you emails about your account and your videos (for example when a render finishes or fails), and support responses. You can turn job emails off in Account Settings.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and respond to lawful requests.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the services described above.

04YouTube and Google API Data Handling

Our use of YouTube is strictly limited to publishing videos you choose to publish. Here is how it works:

Uploads Only When You Publish

Videos are uploaded to YouTube using the YouTube Data API, through our YouTube publishing service provider or by Produce directly, depending on how the channel was connected, only when you publish or schedule them. If you choose a playlist, the video is added to it. We do not download, scrape, or bulk-access any YouTube content.

OAuth Token Storage

Depending on how your channel was connected, Google access is held either by our YouTube publishing service provider or by Produce. When Produce holds it, the Google token is encrypted before it is stored in our database, is used only to upload the videos you publish and to read the channel details described in this policy, and is deleted when the channel is disconnected.

What We Read From YouTube

Produce reads only your channel's name, picture, upload permissions and its recent upload titles, to avoid uploading a video twice. After an upload we keep the YouTube video ID and link, to show you a confirmation link and your upload history. For a video Produce scheduled, it checks the video's status once its time has passed, to tell you whether it went live.

No Analytics or Metrics Access

We do not access YouTube Studio analytics, audience demographics, video performance data, comments, or any metrics derived from YouTube.

Disconnect and Revocation

At any time, you may disconnect a channel from Linked Channels. Channels unused for 14 days are disconnected automatically after a warning, and channels are released a few days after your plan ends. On disconnection, the channel's access is released and Produce stops uploading to it. Videos already on YouTube, including scheduled ones, stay there. You may also revoke access directly through your Google Account settings at myaccount.google.com.

05Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law. The following retention periods apply:

  • Finished Videos: The video file is deleted automatically at the first daily cleanup after your plan's retention period. Today that is 7 days on Creator, 14 days on Pro and 30 days on Scale, or 3 days for an account that has never had a plan. If your plan ends, your videos keep the period of your last plan. Each video in your library shows when it will be deleted. After that it stays listed as expired, without the file. Download anything you want to keep.
  • Your Uploads, Niches, Scripts and Settings: Kept while your account is active, until you delete them.
  • Channel Connections: Kept until you disconnect the channel, until it is disconnected automatically after 14 days without use, or until a few days after your plan ends.
  • Publishing History (video titles, dates, YouTube links): Kept while your account is active.
  • Account Data: Kept for the lifetime of your account. When you delete your account, your profile is anonymised and you're signed out everywhere straight away. To have your uploads, scripts, niches and videos erased as well, email hello@produce.so and we complete it within 30 days, except where we must keep records by law.

We do not retain any YouTube analytics, metrics, comments, or content data.

06Security

We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard measures, including:

  • Encryption at Rest: Stored files are encrypted, and sensitive values (such as two-factor authentication secrets and any YouTube access tokens Produce holds) are encrypted before being stored in our database.
  • Encryption in Transit: All communication between your browser, our servers, and third-party APIs (including Google and YouTube) is secured using HTTPS/TLS.
  • Access Control: Only authorized personnel and systems have access to your data. Access is logged and audited regularly.
  • Secure Infrastructure: Our platform is hosted on Railway, with private networking between our services and regular security updates.

While we implement robust security measures, no system is entirely immune to breaches. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and turn on two-factor authentication in Account Settings.

07Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We share data only as needed with providers that help run Produce: Railway (hosting and database), Tigris (file storage), a YouTube publishing service provider (connecting channels and uploading the videos you publish), Resend (email), Google (sign-in, and YouTube publishing for channels connected to Produce directly), OpenRouter and OpenAI (AI script writing, chapter titles and character images; only the text or prompts needed for the request), and Pexels, Pixabay and SerpApi (stock footage search; only your search terms). These providers may only use your data to provide their service to us.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify you of any such transfer.
  • With Your Consent: We will not share your personal data for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

08Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You may request access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You may request that we correct any inaccurate personal data.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account yourself in Account Settings: your profile is anonymised and you're signed out everywhere straight away. To have your uploads, scripts, niches and videos erased as well, or to ask us to delete your personal data, email hello@produce.so. We complete it within 30 days.
  • Portability: You can download a copy of your account data from Account Settings, or ask us for it.
  • Revocation of Consent: You may withdraw your consent at any time by disconnecting your channels and deleting your account in Account Settings.
  • Disconnect YouTube: You can disconnect a channel from Linked Channels at any time. Produce stops uploading to it right away; videos already on YouTube, including scheduled ones, stay there.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@produce.so.

09Cookies and Tracking

We only use essential cookies and browser storage, needed for the platform to work: keeping you signed in, remembering your selected workspace, and saving preferences such as your sidebar layout and unfinished video drafts.

If you arrive through a partner's referral link, a referral cookie from our affiliate provider (Tolt) records which partner referred you. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies, or track you across other websites. You can clear cookies through your browser settings.

10Children's Privacy

Produce.so is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at hello@produce.so so that we can delete it.

11Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of Produce.so after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
